In the midst of an ongoing interplanetary war between man-colonized worlds and the hostile alien species known as Deng, a planet chooses to rebel against the sensitive BOLO war machines that are the main line of defense against the Deng. Ringo (Hell's Faire) and Evans contribute another story of military SF to the series of novels featuring BOLOs created by author Keith Laumer. Despite the general warmongering policy that derives the subtext of the plot, the authors provide a wealth of military action with a cast of well-developed characters, including a sympathetic BOLO named Sonny.
